Introduction
If a listing has the wrong section or row, you can correct it in Edit listing. In the same place, you can check the seats and seating type, change how buyers can split the listing, change the delivery method, and update when the tickets will be in hand.
The numbers in brackets, like (1), match the numbered markers in the screenshots.
Step 1: Open Edit Listing
In Inventory, click ⋮ on the listing (1) and choose Edit listing (2).
Step 2: Open Seats & Structure
Click Seats & structure (1). On the right, it shows the listing's current delivery method, here Direct Transfer.
Step 3: Correct the Section or Row
Correct Section or Row. For example, change the row from 8 to 9 (1).
Seats is greyed out (2), because seat numbers can't be changed here. The line under it reads Seat numbers cannot be edited. To change them, remove the listing and create it again, or ask support. If the seats are wrong, see Why can't I change the seats? below.
Step 4: Check the Seating Type and Change the Split Rule
Seating Type is Consecutive or Odd / Even. You can only choose a seating type that keeps the listing's seat numbers. Types that would renumber the seats are greyed out in the list, and the line under Seating Type reads Seating types that would renumber the seats are unavailable. (1)
If needed, change Split Rule (2). The split rule sets how buyers can split the listing when they buy. You can choose Standard Split Rule, All Splits, No Splits or Split Multiples of 2. For example, choose No Splits (3).
Step 5: Change the Delivery Method
If needed, change Delivery (1). You can choose Direct Transfer or PDF Upload. For example, choose PDF Upload. The line under it confirms the change (2), here Delivery Method will be set to PDF Upload for 2 unsold seats.
Step 6: Update the On-Hand Status
If you don't have the tickets yet, set On-Hand Status to Pending (1). Then enter the Availability Date (2), the date you'll have the tickets, for example 10/26/2026.
Step 7: Save
Click Save seats & structure (1).
⚠️Important: Save seats & structure saves straight away. You don't need to click Save changes for these fields.
⚠️Important: Availability Date is required when the status is Pending, and it can't be after the event.
Step 8: Check the Confirmation
A Seats & structure saved message appears, and the line under Edit listing shows the new details (1), here Row 9.
Step 9: Check the Listing
Close the window with ✕. In Inventory, the SECTION column shows the new row (1), here 105 · Row 9, with the seats under it. The DELIVERY column shows the new delivery method, PDF Upload, with the availability date you entered under it (2).
Tip: Every change you save here is logged in the listing's history. A delivery method change shows as Delivery Method Updated (see How to See the Full History of One Listing).
Step 10: If Some Tickets Have Already Sold
When some tickets on a listing have sold, Seats & structure shows a warning (1), for example 2 of 4 seats sold, so section, row, seats and seating type can't change. Split rule, on-hand status and delivery method apply to the 2 unsold seats. You can still change Split Rule, Delivery and On-Hand Status for the unsold tickets. The line under Delivery shows how the sold tickets were delivered (2), here 2 sold as Direct Transfer.
⚠️Important: Changing the delivery method only affects the unsold tickets. Tickets that have already sold keep the method they were sold with.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can't I change the seats?
Seat numbers can't be changed in Edit listing. If none of the tickets on the listing have sold, remove the listing and add the tickets again with the right seats (see How to Remove a Listing from Your Inventory and How to Add Tickets to Your Inventory). If some have sold, contact support@seathq.com.
Why is a seating type greyed out?
Choosing it would renumber the listing's seats, and seat numbers can't be changed in Edit listing.
