Introduction
A price override changes the price a marketplace receives for your listing. It adjusts your list price (LIST $) by a percent, a dollar amount or both. You can set an override for all marketplaces, or only for the marketplaces you pick. Price overrides are set in the Edit listing window. This guide shows you how to add price overrides, check what each marketplace receives, remove an override, and replace overrides on several listings at once.
The numbers in brackets, like (1), match the numbered markers in the screenshots.
Step 1: Open Edit Listing
On Inventory, click the three-dot menu (⋮) at the far right of the listing's row (1) and choose Edit listing (2) at the top of the menu.
Step 2: Open Price Overrides
In the Edit listing window, click Price overrides (1). While the listing has no overrides, it reads Same price everywhere.
Step 3: Add an Override for All Marketplaces
The section opens with one rule ready to fill in.
- Under Marketplaces, leave All marketplaces (1) to use the override everywhere. To use it only on some marketplaces, click the box and tick those marketplaces instead.
- Type a percent in Adjust % (2), a dollar amount in Adjust $ (3), or both. Here, 3 in Adjust % raises the price by 3%. To lower the price, type a minus sign first, for example -2.
Each marketplace receives (4) lists the price each marketplace will get. Here, every marketplace receives $462.47: the $449.00 list price plus 3%.
⚠️Important: A price override is added on top of your list price. If you fill in both boxes, the percent is applied first and then the dollar amount is added. Your LIST $ stays the same.
Step 4: Add a Different Price for Other Marketplaces
- Click Different price for other marketplaces. A new rule appears below the first one.
- Click the new rule's Marketplaces box and tick each marketplace the rule is for, here StubHub (1).
- Click outside the list, or press Esc, to close it.
All marketplaces is greyed out (2) because the first rule already covers all marketplaces. A marketplace that's already in another rule is greyed out too, so each marketplace can be in only one rule.
⚠️Important: SI Tickets and TicketNetwork can't take price overrides, so they aren't in the list or in Each marketplace receives.
Step 5: Fill In the Rule, Check the Preview and Save
Type the adjustment for those marketplaces, here 10 in Adjust $ (1). Then check Each marketplace receives:
- StubHub (2) receives $472.47. Its rule has no percent, so it keeps the 3% from the All marketplaces rule and adds $10.00: $449.00 + 3% + $10.00.
- The other marketplaces, such as Ticketmaster (3), still receive $462.47.
When the preview looks right, click Save changes (4).
Step 6: Check the Confirmation
A Marketplace overrides saved message appears at the top of the page (1).
⚠️Important: Price changes can take a few minutes to show on the marketplaces.
Step 7: Review or Change Your Overrides Later
Open Edit listing again (Step 1) and click Price overrides. It now shows how many rules the listing has (1), here 2 rules, and your saved overrides are filled in, such as 3 in Adjust % (2).
- To change an override, edit the numbers, or change the marketplaces in its Marketplaces box.
- To remove a rule, click the red bin next to it (3).
Step 8: Remove an Override and Save
After you click the red bin on the StubHub rule, the rule is gone and StubHub (1) receives $462.47 again, like the other marketplaces. Click Save changes (2). A Marketplace overrides saved message confirms the change.
Tip: The number of rules next to Price overrides updates after you save.
Tip: To remove all overrides, click the red bin on every rule and save. The section reads Same price everywhere again.
Step 9: Replace Overrides on Several Listings at Once
- On Inventory, tick the box at the left of each listing and click Edit listing in the bulk bar. The Edit listings window opens.
- Click Price overrides. The section opens with the overrides that all the selected listings share. A rule that only some of them have isn't filled in. Here, only the listing you set up in Steps 3 to 8 has an override, so the section opens with one empty rule.
- Set up the rules (1) the same way as in Steps 3 to 5, here 3 in Adjust % for All marketplaces. The section now reads Overwrites 2 listings (2). The number matches how many listings you selected. If you change your mind, click Leave unchanged (3). The section reads Unchanged again, and the listings keep their own overrides.
- Click Apply to 2 listings (4). A Marketplace overrides saved on 2 listings. message confirms the change.
⚠️Important: When you apply, the rules shown here replace all the price overrides on every selected listing. A rule that only some of the listings had is removed, so add it again if it should stay.
⚠️Important: Leave Marketplace distribution on Unchanged in this step. It doesn't show what the listings share: it opens with every marketplace that's off on any of the selected listings switched off, and a change there sets that whole list on all of them.
Tip: Price overrides can be replaced on one account's listings at a time. The Edit listings window doesn't show the Each marketplace receives preview, so to check the result, open Edit listing on one of the listings (Step 7).
Tip: For more about selecting listings and the Edit listings window, see How to Select Several Listings and Use Bulk Actions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a price override change my list price?
No. Your LIST $ stays the same. The override is added on top of it for the marketplaces you picked. If you change your list price later, those marketplace prices follow it (see How to Change a Listing's Price with Edit Listing).
What does List price + marketplace markup mean?
That marketplace has no override, so it receives your list price plus its usual marketplace markup. A blank field leaves a marketplace on its own markup. To send exactly your list price to a marketplace, enter 0.
What happens when a rule leaves Adjust % or Adjust $ blank?
A rule for the marketplaces you picked takes over one field at a time. If its Adjust % or Adjust $ is blank, those marketplaces use the All marketplaces value for that field, as with StubHub in Step 5.
Which marketplaces can't take price overrides?
SI Tickets and TicketNetwork. They aren't listed in Price overrides.
Why does a marketplace say (not listed) in the preview?
The listing doesn't go to that marketplace, so the override isn't used there (see How to Choose Which Marketplaces a Listing Goes To).
Why is Save changes greyed out?
- Nothing has changed yet.
- A rule has no marketplace picked. Its Marketplaces box turns red and reads Choose marketplaces.
- An amount is out of range. A percent must be above -100% and at most 1000%, and a dollar amount can be at most $100,000 either way.
Where can I see my price override changes?
Click ⋮ on the listing and choose View History. Each change has a Listing Details Edited row, for example All marketplaces: +3%; StubHub: +$10.00 (see How to See the Full History of One Listing).
Can I also show a different section or row name on some marketplaces?
Yes. Use Section / row alias in the same window (see How to Set Up Section and Row Aliases).
